Vice President of Regions
Reports to the COO
PROFILE
As with all employees at Mentoring Alliance (MA), the Vice President of Regions (VPR) is considered a minister of the gospel. The VPR is a Christ-follower who sets an example for believers and nonbelievers and leads a life above reproach. MISSION STATEMENT
The Vice President of Regions drives growth, operational excellence, and team development, aligning regional efforts with MA’s goals to achieve sustainable success and community impact. This role requires strategic leadership, strong stakeholder relationships, and a focus on empowering teams to deliver results.
AUTHORITY
Authority to accomplish this job is given by the COO to whom the VPR is responsible. Authority is given to purchase equipment and materials necessary to accomplish this job.
Any purchase over $2,500 — including projects that entail multiple purchases totaling over $2500 — will be made after consulting with and approval by the COO, whether or not they are budgeted items.
Authority is given to recruit, hire, train, supervise, and terminate staff needed to accomplish this job. Hiring and pay adjustments shall be made within the limits of the approved budget. Full-time staff shall be hired after consulting with the COO. The COO should be notified of pending terminations.
Authority is given to enter into contractual agreements within the approved budget limits.
CLASSIFICATION & STATUS
This position is a class 70 exempt position. It is full-time and averages 40 hours per week.
KEY RESULT AREAS
1. Leadership
- Serves on the Executive Leadership Team.
- Communicates vision passionately to inspire staff towards God's vision for MA programs.
- Set and execute the strategic vision for the region, aligning it with MA’s overall goals.
- Build and lead high-performing Executive Directors through mentorship, training, and clear goal-setting.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement across all regional operations.
- Ensure the effective implementation of organizational initiatives within the region.
2. Regional Integration
- Drive cohesion among regions, ensuring consistency in policies, processes, and performance standards.
- Identify and address operational challenges unique to the region, tailoring solutions to maximize effectiveness.
- Facilitate communication and collaboration among regions to ensure seamless integration.
- Oversee the analysis of regional metrics to identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
3. Advocating to Headquarters
- Serve as the primary liaison between regional teams and headquarters, ensuring regional needs and priorities are effectively communicated.
- Advocate for resources, tools, and support necessary for regional success.
- Provide regular updates to headquarters on regional performance, challenges, and strategic initiatives.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to shape policies and initiatives that address regional dynamics and opportunities.
4. Lead Launch of New Region
- Develop and execute a comprehensive launch plan for new regional operations with the VP of Expansion.
- Manage timelines, budgets, and resource allocation to support a successful launch.
- Work with marketing to create region-specific branding and promotional campaigns.
- Monitor the progress of new region development and make data-driven adjustments as needed.
- Ensures that growth happens in a sustainable and effective manner.
5. Hire Executive Directors
- Assist in the recruitment and selection process for executive directors in new regions.
- Collaborate with HR to identify and evaluate top candidates and assess cultural fit.
- Provide onboarding and mentorship to newly hired executive directors to align them with organizational values and objectives.
- Ensure the leadership team in new regions has the necessary support and resources for success.
6. Fundraising
- Implement fundraising strategies to support regional expansion.
- Collaborate with the development team to identify potential funding sources, including grants, partnerships, and private donors.
- Present compelling cases for support to existing and potential funders.
- Monitor fundraising efforts and adjust strategies for optimal financial outcomes.
- Maintain relationships with existing investors and provide regular updates on progress to ensure long-term investment.
7. Other Duties as Assigned by the COO and/or President/CEO
- Serves on appropriate committees; attends staff meetings, board meetings, and other staff functions.
- Strengthens teamwork, collaboration, alignment, morale, transparency, credibility, and trust in the ministry.
- Fulfills necessary tasks, projects, or roles as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s or experience equivalency; related master’s preferred
- Proven people and organizational leadership skills
- Ability to shepherd and disciple staff from a biblical worldview
- Demonstrated ability to achieve growth and solve complex problems
- Demonstrated crises/risk management skills
- Proven character, refined in multiple organizational settings
- Non-profit ministry experience preferred
- Experience establishing organizational and programmatic systems and processes required
