PROFILE:

As with other positions within this ministry, the Mentoring Alliance After School Area Director is known for their strong Christian character. This person sets an example for younger believers or non-believers and lives a life that is above reproach. Since they are in full agreement with the Statement of Faith of Mentoring Alliance, they recognize that a life consistent with our Christian heritage is of paramount importance. This person abides by the rules and policies of Mentoring Alliance.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Provides leadership and program supervision for Mentoring Alliance After School programs.

KEY RESULT AREAS:

Minister of the Gospel
The Area Director is first and foremost considered to be a Minister of the Gospel. This position furthers Mentoring Alliance's religious mission by:

  • Following Jesus Christ and setting an example for others through their lifestyle.
  • Exhibiting a passion for sharing the Gospel with others.
  • Being willing and able to explain the message of the Gospel to kids and families of Mentoring Alliance.
  • Being willing and able to counsel, shepherd, and disciple kids and families of Mentoring Alliance in a manner consistent with the Bible.
  • Being willing and able to explain Mentoring Alliance's beliefs and Statement of Faith in person or over the phone to kids and families of Mentoring Alliance.
  • Being ready, willing, and able to lead or contribute to distinctly Christian activities (including, but not limited to, worship or staff chapels).

Discipleship

  • Assist Director of Mentoring Alliance After School in creating and executing content and plans for PT staff.
  • Build relationships with part-time staff that foster spiritual growth and character development.
  • Maintain open communication channels with and between part-time staff to promote a healthy culture and environment.

Recruiting and Hiring

  • Assist Director of Mentoring Alliance After School and the Recruiting Coordinator with the recruitment needs for the Mentoring Alliance After School program.
  • Regularly complete interviews of applicants and follow the hiring process to ensure proper Mentoring Alliance After School staffing levels.
  • Maintain accurate records within the Applicant Tracking System.

Training and Equipping

  • Assist the Director of Mentoring Alliance After School on the development of training materials and training events.
  • Participate in training all part-time staff on the mission, core values of MA, and Mentoring Alliance After School Manual.
  • Equip part-time staff on leadership styles and skills in order to increase their leadership capacity.
  • Train respective Site Directors and Assistant Site Directors on administrative duties.

Program Development Implementation

  • Assist the Director of Mentoring Alliance After School to develop program curriculum.
  • Ensure proper implementation of program activities to support the 5 Priority Outcomes of Mentoring Alliance.
  • Create a safe and healthy environment for children to thrive.
  • Ensure Site Directors are implementing the program in accordance with Mentoring Alliance After School policies and procedures.
  • Conduct ongoing evaluations of the program to determine its effectiveness.
  • Develop innovative ways to grow and improve the Mentoring Alliance After School program

Administration

  • Communicate necessary information to the Campsite Administrator to increase the software and database.
  • Assist the Food Bank Administrator in maintaining accurate reports to ensure compliance with East Texas Food Bank Standards.
  • Purchase and distribute necessary supplies to sites as specified in the site budget.
  • Maintain accurate record of staff payroll timesheets, ensuring all documents are signed and accurate.
  • Maintain accurate records of internal Mentoring Alliance After School documents including; Staffing Grid, Calendar, and other MAAS-related items.
  • Support Director of Mentoring Alliance After School and Director of Marketing and Community Engagement in the promotion of student registration.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure proper management of any and all safety incidents at respective site locations; including communication protocols are followed with staff, children, families, school administrators, and critical issues are escalated to the Director of Mentoring Alliance After School if and when needed.
  • Review and understand the Mentoring Alliance After School operational policies.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards defined in the MAAS operational policies.
  • Manage staffing needs at each site in order to ensure compliance with MAAS operational policies
  • Conduct regular safety audits.
  • Assist Director of MAAS in the ongoing review of safety standards.

Strategic Partnerships

  • Assist in maintaining positive relationships with parents, school leadership, district administrators, and other members of the local community.
  • Collaborate with outside agencies to enhance the Mentoring Alliance After School programs.
  • Support efforts to build relationships with churches, colleges, and universities to increase resources for finding potential staff.

Other Duties as Assigned

  • Assist in maintaining positive relationships with parents, school leadership, district administrators, and other members of the local community.
  • Strengthen teamwork, collaboration, alignment, morale, transparency, credibility, and trust throughout the ministry.
  • Fulfill necessary tasks, projects, or roles as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's or experience equivalency; related master's preferred
  • Ability to work with others
  • Excellent communication skills
  • At least 6 months experience working in a licensed child-care setting.
